NUMBER OF MALAYSIANS STUDYING IN CHINA CLOSE TO 9,500
According to the statistics of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, the number of Malaysian students studying abroad in China has reached close to 9,500 as of March 2019.
This signals a near 20% increase compared to the number of around 8,000 Malaysian students studying in China showed in March 2018.
“Although many Malaysian graduates return from China every year, even more new students choose to chase their educational aspirations in China nonetheless. This is no doubt a positive sign indicating the recognition of the high quality in education offered by universities in China, also showing that studying in China has become a current trend.” said Bernard Chow, Head of Further Studies and Counseling Department, from the Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China, Malaysia (also known as Liu Hua).
Along with president Bock Chek Lim and vice president Lim Kok Yan, Chow has previously visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, and met with Feng Jun, Head of Cultural Department, who provided the above statistics and reported regarding the latest updates in China’s education field.
Chow believes that following the China Higher Education Fair in early March and the launch of China Scholarship Programme 2019, the number of Malaysians choosing to pursue higher education in China this year will also see continuous growth.
Liu Hua together with twenty outstanding China universities has launched the China Scholarship Programme 2019 with a total of 494 attractive scholarship opportunities to offer. The programme includes full and half tuition scholarships, some to waive accommodation expenses and also provide monthly allowance to scholarship holders.
Other than encouraging students to further their studies in China, this programme also aims to directly benefit students by offering strong financial support, especially for students from low and middle-income families, says Chow.
Currently, China Scholarship Programme 2019 is accepting applications in full swing. Prospective undergraduates and postgraduates who wish to study in China are urged not to miss out on the valuable scholarship opportunity. Interested applicants are welcomed to apply before 20th of April.
